The Standard for Communication and Collaboration for grades 3-5 focuses on developing students’ technology skills for them to communicate and collaborate better. This standard is to ensure the student can identify the tools that make up technology. With this, they can learn to collaborate using the tools and truly showcase their communication skills and teamwork abilities. Based on my current technological abilities, I feel prepared to incorporate this in a classroom since I use technology collaboratively in many aspects of my life. As an IT major, plenty of my knowledge is crafted around connecting different worlds and allowing them to communicate effectively. I am overall very familiar with these tools and feel confident implementing them in a classroom environment.
Looking at The Preposition Factory for 3rd grade English Language Arts, I noticed some resources. Within CPALMS I noted the benchmarks that allow for seamless incorporation and effective learning for the students. Graphic organizers and outlines would be appropriate to bring into the lesson to help out the students with a visual of how the concepts work. I foresee these strategies enhancing the learning experience ensuring that all students can grasp the concept of prepositions effectively.
As a teacher, it is crucial to be a proficient Internet searcher in order to have access to any resources that could be needed in a classroom and for students in general. Also, being a skillful Internet user as an educator sets an example for my students to understand and follow through with their online activity. I can envision myself utilizing Google's Advanced Search moving forward. I find it fascinating how I can narrow down my search by excluding certain aspects that could overlap with my search.
