I first experienced distance learning at the beginning of the COVID pandemic which also happened to be my senior year of high school. There was a transition period that I had to adapt to and my teachers themselves were going through. Distance learning and in-person learning require different tools and strategies, so teachers had to adapt their courses to fit virtually. So much of the work was individual that the class periods became shorter too. I liked the power I had over my time and the flexibility I had in building online learning into my schedule. However, there was some sort of disconnect between me and the subject matter especially when I started my university classes. I was in a completely new environment where I did not know my professors or classmates whom I would interact with at a distance and virtually. As a teacher, I would take my experiences into consideration. I would need live sessions to be brief because the attention span on a computer is not very long and promotes ...

While working on the Web Design assignment, I acquired some new skills. I decided to branch out, and I used Weebly as my platform of choice. I tend to use Wix, so this was an adjustment at he beginning learning to navigate its features. I enjoyed being able to visualize a classroom setup into a resourceful site setting. Through this assignment I understand how I can use a website to encapsulate my career's work and have any sort of connection go through it. My Website Using Diigo has been very simple due to its easy-to-understand nature. I can see it becoming very useful in a classroom setting due to its interactive features. Diigo opens up many opportunities for collaboration and connecting with peers. I also like the bookmarking and sharing as it creates a direct source to any useful information I find. In today's evolving educational environment, technology plays a crucial role in the way we teach and learn. Teachers are required to master the latest educational technology a...

Teacher pages on school sites are a very valuable resource for parents and students. It is a one-stop shop that allows for instantaneous access to information and speedy updates from the teacher. I found Ms. Joy Miller's website from Canopy Oaks Elementary School. It is a place where student resources can be found from assignments to important documents, a calendar synced to the official school calendar that allows an overall view of the happenings in class and school, and a small bio provided by the teacher to introduce herself.  https://www.leonschools.net/Page/5696 As a teacher, I envision myself using technology to enhance my efficiency in the classroom. It is important to streamline many processes when teaching to guarantee a smooth experience and time and space for troubleshooting. Google Classroom can definitely help with this due to its versatility and accessibility. I am very familiar with Google's platforms and making them a part of the classroom will not only guaran...

My first experiences using Diigo have been very easy and intuitive. I like the forum-like setup the platform provides and furthering that sense of community. It is very simple to utilize by bookmarking and sharing sites with your thoughts. The annotating feature is also very straightforward and assimilates many alike features I've used in the past. I have really enjoyed blogging for this course. It has allowed me to take a step back and reflect on my past skills and any new ones I have picked up on. I like the journaling nature it has to it and how it helps me keep a record of what I have learned and revisit and witness it too. It has also provided me with a valuable platform to share my insights and even see my peers' point of view. A Web 2.0 tool that I would use during teaching is Google Drive . I appreciate the accessibility of it and its easy-to-follow nature. It would act as a one-stop shop for students to connect, collaborate, and access anything related to classes and l...

When I first joined Twitter, I really enjoyed the casual energy of it. In very few words, one could drop a thought and share it with hopes of it resonating with others. During my time on Twitter, I interact with news sources from world happenings to pop culture. I appreciate how it keeps me in the loop through notifications at my fingertips that might be relevant and maintains me informed. In my future career in the technology field, I feel like Twitter would help me access a lot of information with real conversations unfolding before my very eyes of innovations in the world. The digital divide is a very present issue with the rate at which technology has infiltrated our day-to-day lives. To those who have easy and immediate access to it, tend to assume that everyone around them does too which may not always be the case. This can translate within the educational environment. Students come from different backgrounds with different resources at their disposal–– including technology. ...

The Standard for Communication and Collaboration for grades 3-5 focuses on developing students’ technology skills for them to communicate and collaborate better. This standard is to ensure the student can identify the tools that make up technology. With this, they can learn to collaborate using the tools and truly showcase their communication skills and teamwork abilities. Based on my current technological abilities, I feel prepared to incorporate this in a classroom since I use technology collaboratively in many aspects of my life. As an IT major, plenty of my knowledge is crafted around connecting different worlds and allowing them to communicate effectively. I am overall very familiar with these tools and feel confident implementing them in a classroom environment. Looking at The Preposition Factory for 3rd grade English Language Arts, I noticed some resources. Within CPALMS I noted the benchmarks that allow for seamless incorporation and effective learning for the students. Graphic...

Copyright and Fair Use are implemented regulations with the purpose of limiting the copying and distribution of people's creative works. Copyright gives exclusive rights to the owner and can even result in compensation when used by others. Fair Use allows for copyrighted materials to be used within the educational environment but with limits varying from how much of the work is used and in which way. Copyright and Fair Use serve as essential guidelines to help balance the protection of creative works with the needs of education. When implementing technology into the classroom, as useful and appealing as it is a tool, it also comes with its own set of issues. For one students' privacy  is potentially in a vulnerable state especially when navigating online platforms. To ensure they are protected, transparency and consent are to be encouraged. Students and parents will be well-informed about the measures that will be taken to ensure their data is safe and all appropriate informat...
