I first experienced distance learning at the beginning of the COVID pandemic which also happened to be my senior year of high school. There was a transition period that I had to adapt to and my teachers themselves were going through. Distance learning and in-person learning require different tools and strategies, so teachers had to adapt their courses to fit virtually. So much of the work was individual that the class periods became shorter too. I liked the power I had over my time and the flexibility I had in building online learning into my schedule. However, there was some sort of disconnect between me and the subject matter especially when I started my university classes. I was in a completely new environment where I did not know my professors or classmates whom I would interact with at a distance and virtually.
